Daydreams of a Rabbit Windfall: Free food
Once upon a time, there lived a lazy peasant who did not like to work hard in the fields. He spent days dozing under a tree. One day, while resting under a tree, a fox came hunting for a rabbit. There was a strong blow; the rabbit crashed into the tree and died.
The farmer picked up the dead rabbit and brought it home, foiling the fox. He ate rabbit for dinner and sold his fur to the market. He thought that if he could have such a rabbit every day, he would never have to work again.”
The Elusive Repeat
The next day, the farmer returned to the tree and waited for another rabbit to die in the same way. He saw rabbits, but none of them ran to the tree as before. It was a very rare accident, but the farmer didn’t notice. “Oh well,” he thought cheerfully, “there is always a tomorrow.”
